Emergency Shutdown Valve (ESDV / ESDS) is a safety-critical automated isolation valve engineered to instantly stop the flow of hazardous fluids, toxic chemicals, or flammable gases upon the detection of a plant emergency, pressure surge, power failure, or fire event. Typically utilizing full-bore trunnion mounted ball, triple-offset butterfly, or high-performance quarter-turn architectures, ESDVs are integrated directly into a facility’s Safety Instrumented System (SIS) to achieve rapid, leak-tight isolation and isolate hazardous processing inventory from surrounding infrastructure.

Engineered for extreme reliability in high-consequence risk environments, these valve assemblies feature fast-acting pneumatic or electro-hydraulic actuators fitted with mechanical spring-return mechanisms to guarantee positive fail-safe closure within seconds.
